= 娘を見る喜びがありませんでした…｣と当時を語ります。

７歳になる長女アレイザ(Alayza)ちゃんはおもちゃをもらう代わりに、クリスマスまでにお母さんが見えるようになってほしいと友達、学校の先生に言います。しかし医療費は５７０００ドル(６８４万円)かかり、
Medicaid would only cover half of the steep fee.
メディケイドは高額医療費の半分のみカヴァーするそうです。

希望を失った時The New York Eye and Ear Infirmaryが足りない半分の寄付を申し出てくれました。そしてクリスマスの約２週間前の１２月１０日、マイケル・サムソン先生(Dr. Michael Samson)により成功率半分の損傷した目のレンズを人口のものに交換する手術が行われました。
手術が終わり翌日病院に戻りました。先生が包帯を外しても見えるのか怖さのあまりキャシーさんは１０分間、目を開けれませんでした。目を開けると、そこには次女のエニアハヤちゃんが見えました☆

“Nothing will ever top this.
= これ以上のことはありません。

寒い日に：心暖まる話し2

A young man was soon going to graduate from college.
= その青年が大学を卒業する頃でした。

For many months he had admired a beautiful sports car in a dealer’s showroom
= 彼は何ヶ月も、カーディーラー・ショップのショールームにある綺麗なスポーツカーを憧れの目で見ていました。

Knowing his father could well afford it, he told him that was all he wanted.
= 買う余裕がお父さんには十分ある事を知っていたので、すごく欲しい事を告げました。

As Graduation Day approached, awaited signs that his father had purchased the car.
= 卒業する日が近づくにつれ、もう買ったよ、とお父さんが合図してくれるのを待ちました。

Finally, on the morning of graduation his father called him to his study.
= ついに卒業式の朝、お父さんは彼を書斎に呼びました。

There he told his son that how proud he was to have such a good son and how much he loved him.
= そして、本当に良い息子がいて誇らしい事、またどれだけ愛しているかを告げました。
Then he handed a wrapped gift box to his son as graduation present.
= そして、卒業のプレゼントとして包装紙に包まれた箱を渡しました。

Curious son opened that gift.
= わくわくしながら彼は箱を開けました。
He found a Bible with beautiful leather cover.
= 綺麗な革の表紙と、聖書がありました。
Angrily son in raised voice said to his father
= 彼は怒って声を挙げました

“With all the money you bought me a Bible?”.
= 「それだけお金があって聖書を買ったの！？」
Leaving the bible, stormed out of the house.
= 聖書を置いて、家を飛び出しました。

Years later, the young man become a very successful businessman.
= 数年後、青年はビジネスマンとして大きな成功を収め。
He had a beautiful home and a wonderful family.
= 素敵な家があり、素晴らしい家族もいました。
But he realized his father was very old
= しかし、お父さんが、もう高齢である事に気付き
and thought perhaps he should go to him.
= 会いに行った方が良いかなと思いました。

He has not seen him since that graduation day.
= あの卒業以来、一度も会っていません。

Before he could make arrangements, he received a telegram.
= 帰る予定を立てる前に電報を受け取りました。

It was to inform him of the death of his father and
= それは、お父さんが亡くなったこと

also to inform him that his father willed all his possession to his son and
= 全ての財産は息子に託すこと

he should come home as soon as he can to take care of things.
= 家の整理のために出来るだけ早く帰ってきてほしいこと、が書いてありました。
When he arrived at his father’s house, sudden sadness and regret filled his heart.
= 実家に着くと、急に後悔と悲しみが襲いました。

He began to search for important papers and
= 目的の書類を探していると
saw the still gift-wrapped Bible, just as he had left it years ago.
= まだ包装紙に包まれ、置いて行った状態のままの聖書を見つけました。
With tears he opened the Bible and began to turn the pages and
= 涙で聖書を開けページをめくると。
saw a verse underlined carefully by his father.
= 丁寧に下線が引かれた節がありました。

“And if ye, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children,
= 『あなたは、悪であっても子供に良い贈り物を与える方法を知っています。

how much more shall your Heavenly Father which is in Heaven, give to those who ask Him”
= ならば天の父は、求む者へどれほど与えてくださるでしょう。』
as he read those words, a car key dropped from the back of the Bible.
=その言葉を読むと、聖書の裏から車の鍵が落ちました。

It had a tag with dealer’s name, the same dealer who had the sports car he had desired.
= ほしかった車を置いていたカーディーラー・ショップと、同じ名前のタグが付いていました。

The date on tag was of his graduation day with words written on it, “PAID IN FULL”.
= タグの日付は卒業式の日で「全額支払い済み」とメモしてありました。
